Objective of the Game
In Kibbel-Kabbel, the goal is to discard and collect cards in such a way as to accumulate the fewest penalty points possible. The game is typically played over multiple rounds, with the player who has the lowest total score at the end emerging victorious.
Components
- A special deck of cards, usually featuring number cards from 1 to 9 in four different colors.
- A score sheet or paper to record points.
Setup
- Shuffle the card deck thoroughly.
- Determine a starting player.
- Each player is dealt 10 cards.
- The remaining cards form a draw pile placed face-down in the center.
Game Play
- Start of a Round: The starting player begins the round, and play proceeds clockwise.
- Player's Turn: Each player must play a card to start a new open row for that color or add a card to an existing row.
- Closing Rows: A row must be closed when it reaches at least 5 cards of the same color. The player who closes the row takes those cards onto their hand, which adds to their penalty points.
- Passing: If a player cannot or does not want to play, they draw a card from the deck.
- End of Round: The round ends when the draw pile is empty and no player has any cards left in hand, or when a player reaches a predetermined penalty point total that ends the game (usually 100 penalty points).
Scoring
- For each card left in a player's hand at the end of the round, penalty points are given equivalent to the card's value.
- Special cards might grant bonus points or bonuses, particularly with complete sets or colors.
Strategy Tips
- Avoid closing rows whenever possible, as they lead to penalty points.
- Keep track of which colors are circulating among other players to anticipate their moves.
- Drawing tempting high cards can be risky if the round is nearing its end.
The game involves strategic thinking and risk management, making it suitable for a broad audience from casual players to seasoned strategists.
