Objective of the Game

The objective of Panguingue, also known as Pan, is to accumulate points by forming specific combinations of cards. Players aim to optimize their hands by drawing and discarding cards to be the first to meld all their cards and end the game.

Game Components

  • A special deck composed of eight standard decks, with each deck containing 40 cards. The eights, nines, and tens are removed from the regular decks, making a total of 320 cards.

  • The game is typically played with 2 to 8 players.

Basic Rules

  1. Card Distribution: Each player is dealt 10 cards at the beginning.
  2. Turn Structure: The player to the dealer's left begins, and play proceeds clockwise. Each player on their turn:
  3. Draws a card from the discard pile or the draw pile.
  4. Discards a card from their hand to the discard pile.
  5. Card Combinations: The aim is to form card combinations that meet specific criteria:
  6. Sequences of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit.
  7. Sets of at least three cards of the same rank without suit duplicates.
  8. Special Cards: In some versions of the game, kings and aces can act as wild cards to complete sequences or sets, though this may vary regionally.

Ending the Game

  • The game ends when a player has melded their entire hand into valid combinations onto the table. The remaining players count the points of the cards they still hold in their hands.

Scoring

  • The winner scores points based on how many cards other players have left. Special bonus points may be awarded for particular rare combinations.
