Babel
Objective:
In "Babel," players cooperate with different nations to construct majestic temple towers while attempting to tear down their opponents' towers to achieve the highest score by the end of the game.
Game Components
- Various Nation Cards, each represented by a unique color
- Temple Cards with different point values (1 to 6)
Setup
- Game Setup: Each player receives a set of nation cards, and a play area is set up.
- Temple Cards: These are shuffled and placed in a stack in the center.
- Starting Hands: Both players begin with 5 nation cards in their hand.
- The youngest player begins.
Gameplay
Turns:
The game is played in alternating turns, where each player takes the following steps:
-
Draw Cards: The player draws 3 nation cards from the deck into their hand.
-
Move: The player can move a nation to another temple site or place an additional nation in the current region by playing a nation card.
-
Build a Temple: The player can build exactly one temple. They select a temple card and place it at the current location. To build a temple, the player must lay down nation cards worth 1 more unit than the temple's value.
-
Use Nation Skills:
- Each nation has special abilities. For example, some allow you to steal cards from your opponent or take additional actions.
-
These abilities can be activated by laying down multiple cards of the same nation in the same region.
-
Exchange and Store: Cards that the player cannot use can be stored or exchanged for others.
Special Rules:
- Destroying Temples: Players can destroy opponent temples in the same region using their nations' skills. To destroy a temple, the total strength of the same-colored nation cards must be at least equal to the temple’s point value.
- End of Game: The game ends when no more temple cards can be drawn or one player has placed all their nation cards.
Scoring
- At the end of the game, players add up the point values of their temples.
- Additional points can be earned from special cards or unused nation skills.
Strategy Tips: - Resource Management: Maintain a balance between building your own structures and destroying your opponent's. - Card Efficiency: Utilize nation abilities wisely to strategically weaken your opponent.
