Objective

Big Boss is a strategic economic game where players take on the role of investors trying to establish, merge, and grow companies in order to become the wealthiest player by the end of the game.

Setup

  • The game board is placed in the center. It consists of a grid on which companies can be established.
  • Each player receives a certain amount of capital, usually in the form of play money.
  • The share cards are shuffled and distributed evenly among all players.
  • The remaining business tiles are kept nearby.

Gameplay

The game is played in rounds, and each round consists of various phases:

  1. Establish or expand a company
  2. Players take turns placing tiles on the board to either establish new companies or expand existing ones.
  3. If a tile is adjacent to an existing company group, it is expanded.
  4. If there are adjacent, non-connected company groups, they can be merged by placing a tile between them.

  5. Stock trading

  6. Players can buy shares of existing companies. The price of a share depends on the company's size and its ranking on the board.

  7. Dividends

  8. When a company reaches a certain size, stockholders receive dividends.

Special Features

  • Mergers: In a merger, the smaller of the two merged companies is completely dissolved, and shares are exchanged for the larger company's shares, based on a set exchange ratio.
  • Strategic Decisions: Players must wisely decide when to buy or sell stocks, when to establish or merge companies, and how to allocate their capital effectively.

Ending the Game

The game ends when all tiles have been used or a certain number of companies have reached a preset size. The winner is the player with the most wealth, calculated from cash and stock values.
