BiberClan: Card Game by Jörg von Rüden

Objective of the Game

The objective of BiberClan is to score as many points as possible by collecting cards and building sets of matching numbers. Players draw numbered cards and aim to achieve high scores through strategic collection and set formation.

Game Components

• 66 playing cards: These are categorized into three colors and numbered from 0 to 9. Each color contains numbers 0 to 9 along with multiple copies of each number.
• 1 rulebook

Setup

1. Determine a starting player.
2. Shuffle the cards and distribute 6 cards to each player. These cards remain face down.
3. The rest of the cards form a draw pile.

Gameplay

1. Start of Round: At the beginning of each round, all players draw one card in sequence from the draw pile.
2. Laying Down or Swapping Cards: On their turn, a player has two options:
3. They can lay down one or more cards face-up to build a set or extend an existing set of cards. All cards in a single set must have the same number. Sets contribute to the player’s score at the end of the game.
4. Alternatively, they can swap one card with the top card of the discard pile or with a card from another player.
5. Types and Values of Cards:
6. Normal Cards: have values from 0 to 9. The aim is to build sets with high-value cards.
7. Special Cards: Jokers - There are no jokers, so strategize carefully without them.

Scoring

At the end of each round, scoring occurs: - Each complete set of cards with the same number gives points equal to the number multiplied by the quantity of cards in the set. - Example: A set of three 5s gives 15 points (5 x 3).

End of the Game

The game ends when the draw pile is exhausted and after a player draws and lays down all their cards. Players total their points, and the player with the highest total wins.

Strategic Tips

• Consider when it's more beneficial to swap cards or lay new ones down.
• Watch the collecting strategies of other players to block their potential high-scoring sets.
• Save high-number cards for building longer sets.
