Objective of the Game:
In Feuerstab, each player takes on the role of a wizard seeking to gain control over magical fire staffs to become the most powerful magician. The main goal is to collect the most points through clever card play and strategic planning.
Game Components:
- A game board depicting paths and targets (fire staff shrines)
- A set of 60 cards, divided into various spells and magic elements
- 5 fire staffs distributed across the board
- Scoring sheets for each player
- Rulebook
Setup:
- Place the game board in the center of the table.
- Each player draws 5 cards from the shuffled spell deck.
- The fire staffs are randomly placed on the marked shrines.
- Each player draws a starting position on the board in random order.
Gameplay:
Each round consists of the following steps:
1. Draw Cards: Each player draws a card from the draw pile.
2. Movement and Actions: Players move their figure along paths on the board to reach a shrine and acquire a fire staff. During the movement, cards can be played to perform actions, including:
- Attack: Cast spells can harm or hinder other players.
- Defense: Certain cards allow for blocking attacks or protecting fire staffs.
- Manipulation: Altering board conditions or fire staff positions.
3. Scoring: At the end of each round, points for acquired fire staffs and successful spells are added.
Card Types:
- Combat Spells: These cards deal direct damage to other players.
- Block Spells: These cards provide protection from attacks.
- Healing Spells: Regenerate health points or nullify negative effects.
- Elemental Spells: Change environmental conditions or movement opportunities.
Special Rules and Strategy:
- Planning is key as movement and card use must be coordinated.
- Surprise elements can be created by holding cards secretly.
- Effective use of Elemental Spells can provide a significant strategic advantage.
- Collaborating in temporary alliances can be beneficial, but beware of betrayal.
Winning the Game:
The game ends when all fire staffs have been acquired or when a player reaches a pre-defined score. The player with the most points wins. In case of a tie, the number of controlled fire staffs determines the winner.
