Objective of the Game
The goal of Majesty is to collect the most victory points by strategically expanding your kingdom with character cards and utilizing their effects optimally.
Components
- 64 character cards (eight different characters)
- 24 villager cards
- 4 kingdom boards
- 4 score tracks
- 4 pawns
- 92 coins (various denominations)
- 1 starting player token
Setup
- Each player receives a kingdom board and places it in front of them.
- The score track is set up, and each player places their pawn on the starting position (zero points).
- The character cards are shuffled and stacked as a draw deck.
- Open character cards are placed in the center as a market for players to choose from.
- The start player token is given to a randomly determined player.
- Each player receives starting capital in the form of coins.
Gameplay
The game progresses over several rounds until the villager deck is exhausted. In each round, the starting player, followed by the others, executes the following steps:
- Draw a Character Card:
-
Select a card from the open market. To choose a card further from the first position, you must place coins on each card to the left of the chosen card.
-
Play the Card:
- Play the selected card into your kingdom at the associated location (the corresponding field on your board).
-
Activate the effect of the card, depending on the character type. Effects can involve gaining coins, victory points, or interacting with other players.
-
Refill Villagers:
- Refill the market with villager cards from the draw deck.
Character Card Specialties
- Baker: Provides base coins and helps establish a stable economy.
- Miller: Creates synergies with other miller cards for additional coins.
- Brewer: Produces coins depending on the number of this card type.
- Soldiers: Allow you to inflict damage on other players by disturbing or removing their characters.
- Healers: Repair damage or provide protection against soldier attacks.
- Guards: Protect the kingdom from attacks.
- Blacksmiths: Help in building a strong economic kingdom through additional coin income.
- Nobles: Grant endgame rewards based on their number.
End of the Game and Victory
The game ends when the villager draw deck is exhausted, and all cards from the open market are taken. Each player then sums up their victory points and coins. The player with the most points wins.
Strategic Tips
- Balance between economic gain and defense. A strong income secures resource access, while defense stabilizes your victory strategy.
- Take note of character synergies. Sometimes, specializing in specific card types yields substantial bonuses.
- Observe other players' plans and use soldiers or guards to your advantage.
