Objective of the Game
In Lobo 77, the goal is to avoid being the player who brings the running total to 77 or exceeds it. The last player remaining with chips wins the game.
Components
- 52 cards with values from 0 to 10
- 3 penalty chips per player
Setup
- Each player receives three penalty chips.
- The cards are shuffled and distributed evenly among players. Remaining cards are placed in a draw pile in the center.
Game Play
- First Player: The starting player places an open card from their hand onto the play pile and announces the card's value.
- Adding Values: Each subsequent player plays a card onto the pile and adds the card's value to the running total, announcing the new total out loud.
- Critical Total: The running total must not exceed 77!
- Special Cards:
- 7: Changes the direction of play.
- 10: Skips the next player.
- 9: Resets the current total to 0.
- Round Loser: The player who reaches or exceeds the total of 77 receives a penalty chip and a new round begins.
- Special Rules: If a player runs out of cards, they draw one from the center pile.
Strategy
- Pay close attention to which cards are played, as the final rounds are often decisive.
- Hold onto cards that can change direction or reset the total for strategic use in critical moments.
- Try to force your opponents into playing unfavorable cards.
End of the Game
The game ends when only one player has penalty chips remaining. This player is the winner!
