Objective of the Game
The objective of Formula Dé is to be the first player to complete a predetermined number of laps on a race track. The game simulates a car race where players must make smart decisions to manage speed, risk, and the condition of their race car.
Components
- Game Board: Depicts a race track with various spaces and curves.
- Player Markers: Represent the players' race cars.
- Dice: Multiple custom dice for speed changes and decisions.
- Gear Cards: Indicate which gear the car is in.
- Status Sheet: Displays the car's condition, including damage and speed.
Setup
- Each player selects a marker as their car.
- Place the status sheet in front of you.
- Position all markers on the starting grid of the track.
- Each player receives a set of gear cards.
- Determine the length of the race, typically one or two laps.
Game Play
The game is played in turns. Each player goes through several steps in their turn:

Change Gears: At the beginning of a turn, the player can decide to change gears, either up or down, as indicated by the gear cards.

Roll Dice: Based on the current gear, the corresponding die is used. The number of spaces to move forward depends on the roll:
- 1st Gear: 4-sided die (1-2 spaces)
- 2nd Gear: 6-sided die (2-4 spaces)
- 3rd Gear: 8-sided die (4-8 spaces)
- 4th Gear: 12-sided die (7-12 spaces)

5th Gear: 20-sided die (11-20 spaces)

Make a Move: Move the car forward the number of spaces rolled.

Cornering: In corners, players must stop. Each corner has a number of required stops that must be completed before leaving the corner.

Manage Damage: If moving too fast, damage may occur and must be recorded on the status sheet.

End of Turn: Once all actions are complete, the turn ends, and the next player's turn begins.
Special Rules
- Slipstreaming: Being directly behind another car can provide extra movement.
- Damage Control: Each damage decreases the car's capabilities. At maximum damage, the car is out.
Strategy Tips
- Carefully consider when to shift into higher gears. Excessive speed can cause damage and elimination.
- Plan your position in curves to efficiently manage required stops.
- Watch opponents' positions and take advantage of slipstreaming.
