Objective of the Game:
In Akropolis, you take on the role of an architect in ancient Greece with the goal of building the most magnificent city. Your city consists of various domains like markets, temples, and residential areas, which you must strategically place to score as many points as possible.
Game Components:
- Tiles: These represent different buildings that you can place in your city. Each tile consists of three hexagonal spaces.
- Game Board/Table: No fixed game boards, you build your city on your own playing area.
- Starting Tile: Each game begins with a starting tile for each player.
Setup:
- Each player receives a starting tile.
- Stack all tiles face down in piles.
- Lay out the top tiles from the piles face-up in a row in the center of the table. The number of displayed tiles is equal to the number of players plus one additional tile.
Gameplay:
The game is played in rounds, and each round consists of a series of actions:
- Action Phase (Player Turn Order):
- Take a Tile: Players take turns choosing one of the displayed tiles. The leftmost tile is free. Each subsequent tile requires spending stone points (earned by placing tiles).
- Place a Tile: The chosen tile must be integrated into your existing city. Each hexagonal space on the tile must either rest on the table (at the same height) or be fully supported by other tiles.
-
Service Buildings: Certain buildings offer advantages based on arrangement and height:
- Markets earn points if not shadowed by other tiles.
- Temples score when fully surrounded by other tiles.
- Houses generate points but must not be adjacent to markets.
- Quarries: Sources for acquiring stone points.
-
Refill Phase: New tiles are drawn from the piles and added to the row.
Game End and Scoring:
- The game ends when no more tiles remain in the piles.
- Players calculate their points based on the height and combinations of their placed tiles.
- The player with the most points at the end wins the game.
Strategic Tips:
- Height Planning: High-placed tiles multiply the value of domain-dependent buildings, so plan which buildings to place higher.
- Maintain Stone Points: Keep enough stone points to access valuable tiles that aren't free.
- Optimal Placement: Skillfully integrate tiles to fulfill building requirements and maximize your score.
With these rules, you are ready to engage in the strategic arms race to create the shiniest Greek metropolis!
