Mister X – Escape through Europe
Objective:
The objective of the game is for the detectives to capture Mister X before he can completely escape across the map of Europe. Mister X wins by evading the detectives for the required number of turns.
Components: - Game board with a map of Europe and cities with numbered locations - Transport ticket cards - Detective pawns (in different colors) and an invisible pawn for Mister X - Logbook for Mister X to secretly record his movements
Setup: 1. One player takes on the role of Mister X, and the other players are detectives. 2. Detectives choose their pawns and each receive a set number of tickets for taxis, buses, and trains. 3. Mister X receives more tickets, including special tickets for ferries and secret moves ("black tickets"). 4. Mister X secretly notes his starting location in the logbook. Detectives start from a designated position.
Gameplay Rules: - Turns: - In each round, Mister X makes a secret move first by recording his destination in the logbook and placing the used ticket face-up. Detectives then move in any order. - Each move requires using a corresponding ticket that matches the chosen mode of transport. - Transportation Options and Tickets: - Taxi tickets for short distances, - Bus tickets for medium distances, - Train tickets for long distances. - Ferries are available for special routes (with a port). - Secret moves with black tickets allow any transport option. - Tracking Mister X: - Mister X reveals his current position on the board every four or five moves by marking his location on the board.
Notable Strategies and Tips: - Mister X: should strategically use his black tickets, especially when he is in danger of being caught. Using ports and ferries can make it harder for detectives to predict his route. - Detectives: should work together to cover different parts of the map and develop efficient search patterns. It is often advisable to move in formations that can corner Mister X into a confined area.
Winning the Game: - Mister X wins if he avoids capture by the detectives within the maximum number of rounds. - The detectives win if one of them moves onto the location occupied by Mister X and captures him.
