Instructions Derdeln

- Card Game (French Deck)

Family Game, Strategy, Luck-based Game

group 2 - 4 Deutsch

Objective of the Game

The aim of Derdeln is to play all the cards from the deck in ascending order and be the first player to have no cards left in hand.

Setup

  • Number of Players: 2-4 players
  • Materials: A standard deck of cards without jokers.
  • Card Distribution: The dealer shuffles and deals 5-7 cards to each player as agreed. The remaining cards are placed face-down as a draw pile in the middle of the table.

Game Play

  1. Opening Move: The player to the left of the dealer starts the game by placing one of their cards face-up on the table. This sets the playable suit.
  2. Order & Rounds: Players take turns in a clockwise order, placing cards of the same suit, trying to beat the current top card. For example, if there’s a 5 placed, the next player must lay a 6 or higher.
  3. Drawing Cards: If a player cannot match the top card, they draw a card from the draw pile. If they still can't play, their turn is skipped.
  4. Changing Suit: A player who can play the highest card of a suit (usually the King) or a special card may declare a new suit for the next rounds.

Ending the Game

  • Last Card: The game ends when a player throws their last card onto the table.
  • Winner: The first player with no cards left wins the game.

Special Rules & Strategies

  • Bluffing: To add tension, players may pretend they can't play while they actually can, drawing cards to deceive opponents and force a suit change.
  • Special Cards: A variation includes using certain cards (like the 2) as wild cards, playable on any suit.

Strategic Tips: - Try collecting cards of a prevailing suit to maintain control. - Reserve special cards or lower cards for emergencies when you have few matching suits.

Note: These rules can be adapted to suit players' preferences, altering game pace or interaction.
