Objective of the game
The goal of Schimmel is to be the first player to play all the cards in your hand.
Game setup
-
A standard 112-card deck is used, which includes cards in four different colors with numbers ranging from 1 to 20.
-
Each player draws 10 cards. The remaining cards form the draw pile.
-
The player who has a "Eleven" card starts the game.
Gameplay
-
The game proceeds in turns in a clockwise direction.
-
At the beginning of each turn, the player can perform the following actions:
- Play cards: Players must lay cards of the same color in ascending order (i.e., if an '11' is on the table, the player can lay a '12' of the same color).
- Pass: If a player cannot lay a card, they must draw one card from the pile and forfeit their turn.
Special rules
-
Starting card: The game round always begins with an Eleven card. Numbers of the same color are then placed in ascending and descending order.
-
Sequence: In a single turn, a player may lay down multiple cards sequentially as long as they follow the correct order.
-
Card exchange: In each round, a player has the right to exchange one card with another player, if both agree.
Game ending
-
The game ends immediately once a player has laid down all their cards.
-
All other players count the points of the cards they still have in their hand. The score of remaining cards (
11
is worth 11 points,...,20
is worth 20 points) is totaled. -
The player with the least points after all rounds wins.
Strategic tips
-
Keep cards: Keep some mid-number cards (10-13) to remain flexible when playing.
-
Observe: Pay attention to when other players often have to pass and try to disrupt their flow intentionally.
-
Timing: Consider carefully when to offer a card trade to gain an advantage for yourself or to deprive an opponent of a strategically important card.
