Brusbart

Objective

The goal of Brusbart is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards. Once a player has no cards left, the game ends.

Components

  • 1 deck of cards consisting of 52 cards without jokers.

Setup

  • Shuffle the cards thoroughly.
  • Distribute all cards evenly among the players. Depending on the number of players, some cards may remain. These are placed out of play.
  • Each player looks at their cards but does not reveal them to the others.

Gameplay

  1. Start: The player to the left of the dealer starts and places a card face up in the middle.
  2. Turn Order: Next, the turn passes clockwise. Players must play a card that matches either the value or suit of the top card on the discard pile.
  3. Can't Play:
  4. If a player cannot play, they must draw from the draw pile (if available). If the pile is empty, the player takes the entire discard pile instead.
  5. Ace: Reverses the playing direction.
  6. 8: The next player loses their turn.
  7. 2: The next player must draw two cards.
  8. End of the Game: The game ends when a player plays their last card.

Strategic Hints

  • Keep Special Cards: Try to hold onto special cards (Ace, 8, 2) for situations where you really need them to stay in the game or block another player.
  • Card Counting: Pay attention to what cards other players play or cannot play to get an idea of what they might have in their hand.

Special Rules

In some variations, the game might include jokers that can replace any card. In such cases, strategies may change significantly as a joker can be very powerful.
