Camel Up - Game Explanation
Objective of the Game: Camel Up is a betting game where players act as bookmakers, trying to predict the outcomes of a chaotic camel race. The player with the most money at the end of the game wins.
Game Components:
- 1 game board showing a race track
- 5 different colored wooden camels
- 1 dice pyramid
- 5 colored dice, each showing numbers from 1 to 3
- 16 betting cards in camel colors
- Leg betting cards (which provide financial rewards to players)
- 4x desert tiles (+1 and -1)
- Banknotes
Setup:
- Place the game board in the center of the table.
- Place the five camels on the starting space.
- Prepare the dice pyramid and insert the five colored dice.
- Each player receives a set of the same betting cards and 3 coins.
- Shuffle the leg betting cards and place them face down.
- Each player receives a desert tile.
Gameplay:
The game is played over multiple legs, each consisting of several rounds. In each round, players can choose one of the following actions:
1. Roll the Dice:
- The player takes the pyramid and rolls one of the dice out.
- The camel in the color of the rolled die moves forward the number of spaces shown.
- If a camel lands on a space already occupied by other camels, it is placed ON TOP of the existing stack.
- Stacking: If a camel is moved and carries another camel, it carries the top camel with it.
- The player earns a coin for rolling the dice.
2. Place a Leg Bet:
- Choose one of the available leg betting cards. These cards provide players with additional money based on the ranking of the chosen camel at the end of the leg.
3. Place a Desert Tile:
- Place your desert tile on the racetrack (it cannot be placed on the start or finish line).
- The front side shows "+1" and the back side "-1".
- If a camel lands on a tile with "+1", it moves one space forward; if on "-1", it moves one space back, and the owner of the tile earns a coin.
4. Make a Long-Term Bet:
- You can use one of your individual betting cards to wager on which camel will win or lose the race. These cards carry higher risks but also offer higher rewards.
Leg End and End of Game:
- A leg ends when all five dice have been rolled. At the end of each leg, betting cards are resolved, and players receive or lose money based on their bets.
- The game ends as soon as a camel crosses the finish line. Then long-term bets are resolved.
Winner:
- The player with the most money wins the game.
Strategic Tips:
- Observe the movement of the camels and bet wisely on the leg betting cards.
- Use your desert tile strategically to hinder other players or gain an advantage.
- Balance between risk and safety in long-term bets to maximize your final gain.
Have fun and may the best camel win!
