group 2 - 4 Deutsch

Objective of the Game

The goal of "Burg Appenzell" is to be the first player to collect the most pieces of cheese. Players attempt to guide their mice to cheese wedges to complete a full block.

Components

  • 1 Game board with sliding roofs
  • 17 different cheese pieces
  • 4 Trapdoors
  • 4 Mouse figures per player in different colors
  • 1 Start-player marker

Setup

  1. Place the game board in the center of the table and fix the mouse roofs.
  2. Shuffle the cheese pieces and randomly distribute them under the roofs.
  3. Each player takes all mouse figures of their color and places them in front of themselves.
  4. The start-player marker is given to any player.
  5. Each player places one of their mice on any edge square of the game board.

Gameplay

Players take turns in sequence. On each turn, a player may perform the following actions:

  1. Move Mouse: Move the active mouse one square orthogonally (not diagonally). If the player has multiple mice on the board, they may choose which one to move.
  2. Slide Roof: After moving, the player may slide any roof tile one square in any direction. This can reveal new paths or trapdoors.
  3. Collect Cheese: If sliding a roof or moving reveals a previously hidden cheese and the mouse reaches this square, the player takes the cheese if it is still available.
  4. Trapdoors: If a mouse is moved onto a trapdoor by sliding a roof, it falls to the lower level and must reenter from an edge square.

End of the Game

The game ends when all cheese blocks are collected or a player has gathered eight cheese pieces. The player with the most cheese pieces wins.

Strategy Tips

  • Use foresight to plan the best routes to cheese pieces.
  • Position your mice wisely to take advantage of adjustable board fields.
  • Be cautious not to offer easy opportunities to other players by creating unfavorable layouts.

Special Rules

  • A mouse cannot be slid if it would move out of the board area.
  • Only one cheese piece can be collected per move, and one square can be occupied.

"Burg Appenzell" is a simple strategy game that enhances planning and tactical skills while being played in a relaxed atmosphere.
