Objective of the Game

The objective of Elf hoch is to be the first player team to score the most points over 11 rounds. It's played with a standard deck of cards.

Setup

Before the game begins, all players should be divided into two evenly matched teams. The game board consists of a series of 11 game pieces (usually counters positioned on ball tracks) so that they can be reached by both teams. A deck of 52 cards (excluding jokers) is needed. The cards are distributed evenly to both teams, giving each team 26 cards.

Rules

  1. Card Value: The cards maintain their normal values: Ace = 1 point, King = 0 points, Queen = 0 points, Jack = 0 points, number cards retain their number values.

  2. Round Structure: Each round starts with both teams simultaneously revealing one card.

  3. Gameplay: Team members can decide who plays which card, the highest point sum is counted.

  4. The team that reaches the higher score moves the respective game piece one position towards their own start side.

  5. If the scores are tied, the game piece remains in position.

  6. Round End Conditions: A round ends when all game pieces have been moved towards a team's side or all pieces stand on their middle column, then a new round begins.

  7. Winning Conditions: A team wins if, at the end of a total of 11 rounds, it has moved the most game pieces to its own side.

Strategic Tips

  • Team Coordination: Since teammates can discuss their hands together, conferring about the strategic approach for the round is crucial.

  • Distribution of Card Values: Particularly valuable cards should be saved for strategic plays requiring high points.

  • Exploiting Ties: Try to deliberately create ties to prevent moving game pieces for the opponent.

Through this combination of strategic thinking and team collaboration, "Elf hoch" offers an exciting gaming experience and encourages intense communication.
