Objective of the Game:
In RiftRoamers, the goal is to explore various dimensions and collect valuable artifacts to become the most powerful dimension explorer. The game ends when a player reaches a certain point total or all dimensions are exhausted.
Components:
- A game board featuring different dimensions (areas)
- Artifact Cards and Event Cards
- A set of tokens for each player
- Special dice to navigate the dimensions
Setup:
- Each player selects a game piece and places it on the starting space of the central dimension.
- Shuffle the Artifact Cards and place them in a stack.
- Do the same with the Event Cards.
- Determine a starting player, either randomly or by rolling the dice.
Gameplay:
The game is played in rounds, with each player taking a turn that consists of the following phases:
1. Movement Phase: - Roll the special dice to determine the number of spaces the player may move their pawn. - Move along spaces in any of the dimensions, depending on the result rolled.
2. Discovery Phase: - Upon reaching certain spaces, especially those with symbols, the player can draw Artifact Cards. - Event Cards are drawn when a player steps onto an event space, which may trigger unexpected effects.
3. Interaction Phase: - Players can challenge other players to duel for artifacts by rolling the dice again. The higher roll wins. - Artifacts have different point values and special abilities that can be game-changing.
Winning Conditions:
- The game ends either when a player reaches 20 points by collecting artifacts or when all dimensions have been traversed and the artifacts are depleted.
- The player with the most points from collected artifacts and completed Event Cards wins the game.
Strategic Tips:
- Plan your moves strategically to reach the most artifacts with minimal turns.
- Be mindful of which event cards have positive or negative effects and take risks accordingly.
- Engage with other players and use the opportunity to steal artifacts through duels when it increases your chances of winning.
