Objective of the Game

The objective of the board game Verflixxt! is to strategically move along a path to collect the most points while avoiding tiles with negative point values. The player with the highest score at the end of the game wins.

Components

  • 18 path tiles with different point values (both positive and negative).
  • A start tile and an end tile.
  • Colored player pawns for each player.
  • 2 guardians (introduced in expansions).

Setup

  1. Randomly arrange the path tiles between the start and the end tiles to form a serpentine path.
  2. Each player chooses a colored pawn and places it on the start tile.
  3. Place the two guardians on the start tile as well.

Gameplay

The game proceeds in clockwise turns. On a player's turn, they perform the following steps:

  1. Roll the Die:
  2. The player rolls the standard six-sided die.

  3. Move the Pawn:

  4. The result indicates how many tiles the player moves their pawn forward along the path.

  5. Collect a Path Tile:

  6. If a pawn lands on a tile and there are no other pawns on it, the player can collect that tile.
  7. The collected tile counts towards the player's score at the end of the game, with positive numbers adding to the score and negative numbers subtracting from it.

  8. Move Guardians (Optional):

  9. Instead of moving their pawn forward, players may choose to move a guardian forward, if on a tile alone.
  10. This can be used strategically to block tiles from other players or to protect oneself from negative point tiles.

End of the Game

The game ends when all players have reached the end tile. Scores are calculated based on the collected tiles: - Add positive points. - Subtract negative points.

The player with the highest score is the winner.

Strategic Tips

  • Planning Ahead: Plan which tiles you aim to collect to maximize your positive score and minimize the collection of negative tiles.
  • Use Guardians Wisely: Utilize guardians to block tiles that opponents may desire or to make unwanted, negative tiles ineffective for opponents.
  • Risk and Chance: Since some tiles remain hidden initially, sometimes it is advantageous to take the risk of landing on unknown tiles for potentially high rewards.
