Attika - Game Instructions

Objective: In "Attika," players aim to develop a civilization from ancient Greece by constructing buildings. The primary goal is to either be the first to place all your buildings on the game board or to connect two temples using your buildings.

Game Components

• Game Board: Composed of modular terrain tiles that form a hexagonal grid.
• Building Cards: Each player receives a set of 30 building cards categorized into types like farms, temples, theaters, etc.
• Terrain Tiles: Square cardboard pieces with hexagonal spaces, randomly set up at the game's start.

Setup

1. Each player receives a complete set of building cards and draws 3 cards into their hand.
2. The terrain tiles are placed in the center of the table, with the number of tiles used based on the number of players.
3. Players choose a color and take the corresponding pieces.
4. Players alternately draw cards from their deck until they have five cards in hand.

Gameplay

The game is played in turns. On a player's turn, they may either place buildings or draw cards.

Placing Buildings

• Free Cost: A player may place a building for free on a tile if the costs depicted on the building token match the underlying terrain type.
• Use Resources: If terrain does not cover building costs, a player must use resource tokens or sacrifice existing buildings to make up the difference.

Drawing Cards

• A player may draw any number of cards (up to the maximum hand size) instead of placing a building.

Special Features and Strategic Tips

• Network Building: Connections between buildings are crucial to fulfilling the victory conditions.
• Blocking: Prevent other players from optimally placing their buildings by strategically positioning yours.
• Resource Management: Think carefully about how to use your resources, as they are limited.
• Exploring New Tiles: Continuously explore new areas of the board to benefit yourself or to hinder others' progress.

Winning Conditions

• A player wins by either:
• Placing all their buildings or
• Connecting two temples on the board.
