Objective
The goal of CuBirds is to collect bird cards to complete flocks and achieve the necessary bird collections to win the game. Each player tries to be the first to either collect seven different species of birds or have two species in complete four-card sets.
Game Components
- Different cards, each featuring a bird species (8 types in total)
- Cards display cute, cubic birds in unique designs
Basic Rules
- Game Setup:
- Each bird species has a specific frequency. These differences in card numbers determine how easy or difficult it is to collect a particular bird species.
- The cards are shuffled, and each player initially receives 8 cards.
-
On the table, four rows are laid out with a certain number of birds, referred to as "fields." The number of cards per row depends on the number of players.
-
Gameplay:
- In each turn, you play a number of the same bird cards from your hand into one of the four rows.
- If the placement of your cards connects similar bird species, with no different cards in between, you collect the cards between the two outermost sets of your cards into your hand.
-
Repeat this until no further connections are possible or you can't place any cards.
-
Collecting Bird Flocks:
-
Once you have collected enough cards of one bird species, you can lay them out in front of you:
- Small flocks (3 cards) allow you to play one card of this type.
- Larger flocks (7 cards) let you play two cards of this type, granting you a significant advantage.
-
Bird Flock Actions:
- Quick decisions and forward planning are crucial, as the game is dynamic and other players can quickly complete collections.
-
Make sure to carefully weigh when to gather particular birds and how they can offer you the best benefits.
-
End of the Game:
- The game ends immediately if a player either:
- collects seven different bird species,
- or completely collects four cards of two different types.
- The player who first achieves this is the winner.
Strategic Tips
- Versatility is key: Try to collect a variety of different bird species to be more adaptable to other players' actions.
- Be mindful of when to draw cards from a row so as not to give other players the crucial advantage.
- Observe the turns of your fellow players to anticipate which flocks they can complete.
- Consider which birds have already been laid out by you and your fellow players, so you can strategically manage your hand cards.
Enjoy your flight adventure with CuBirds!
