Objective of the Game
Gotori is an innovative strategy game that combines elements of real-time strategy and board games. The main goal of the game is to gain control over the game fields through clever movement and positioning of the game pieces and to collect the most points.
Preparation
- The game board is placed in the center of the table. It consists of a modular grid that can be individually designed at the start.
- Each player chooses a color and receives the corresponding game pieces and score chips in the same color.
- Players place their starting pieces on the designated starting positions of the board.
Game Rules
1. Basic Play: * Rounds: The game is played in several rounds, each consisting of a planning and an action phase. * Planning Phase: * In this phase, players plan their moves without immediately revealing them. * This is done secretly to ensure strategic depth.
2. Action Phase: * Movements: * Players reveal their moves simultaneously and move their pieces according to their planning. * Each movement must be to an adjacent empty field. * Conflict Resolution: * When two pieces claim the same field, the conflict is decided through a rolling rule or strength scale built into the game. * Winning conflicts lead to control of the field and possibly the removal of opposing pieces.
3. Winning Strategy: * Field Control: A player wins by controlling more than half of the game fields or collecting the most points during a predefined number of rounds. * Points Distribution: Players gain points for each controlled field at the end of a round. Special fields can generate bonuses.
Strategic Considerations
- Advance Planning: Since planning is done secretly, foresight in strategy is essential.
- Adaptability: As the board can change dynamically, players should remain adaptable.
- Positioning: Smart placement of pieces can facilitate attacks or bolster defense moves.
This game requires both tactical skill and quick decision-making, making it ideal for players who appreciate both planned strategies and flexible adaptation.
