- Treasure chests for each player
Gameplay
Diamant is a Push-Your-Luck game played over several rounds. In each round, players enter a new cave to find diamonds.
Starting an Expedition Round
- All players: Make a simultaneous decision whether to enter the cave or not. At the beginning of each new round, all players are automatically in the cave.
- A player draws the top card from the cave deck:
- Treasure cards contain diamonds.
- Trap cards cause hazards.
- Relic cards: Especially valuable and accumulate over rounds.
Drawing Cards and Risk Decisions
- Treasure Cards:
- Distribute the specified number of diamonds evenly among all remaining players in the cave. Undistributed diamonds stay on the card.
- Trap Cards:
- The first drawn trap card has no immediate effect.
- On drawing a second identical trap card, the expedition ends immediately, and all players lose the gathered gems of that round.
Decisions - Stay or Flee
- Staying: Players stay in the cave, hoping for greater loot.
- Fleeing: When a player retreats, they can take any undistributed diamonds on the path back into their treasure chest.
- Collecting Relics: If only one player leaves the cave, they can take a relic with them.
End of Round
- A round ends either when two identical traps have been revealed or all players have left the cave.
End of the Game and Winning
- The game ends after five rounds.
- The player with the most gems in their treasure chest wins.
Strategies and Tips
- Risk vs Reward: One of the central mechanics of the game is weighing risk and reward. Playing it safe brings fewer but sure gains, whereas staying longer promises bigger but riskier rewards.
- Watch the Relics: These are especially valuable if you can secure them in your chest.
- Observe Other Players: Knowing whether someone is planning to pull out can prevent you from taking unnecessary risks.
