Objective
In Anubixx, players take the role of construction supervisors who aim to collect the most points by strategically placing their resources (in the form of colored cubes) to build Egyptian monuments.
Components
- A game pad with construction plans for each player
- Four colored dice (white, yellow, red, blue)
- Pencils or pens to mark blocks on the game pad
Setup
- Each player receives a construction plan from the game pad. The plan displays various monuments that consist of colored blocks.
- One player is chosen as the starting player.
How to Play
The game proceeds in rounds, with players taking turns to choose dice and allocate resources. Each player becomes the active player on their turn, and the starting player changes after each round:
- Rolling the Dice: The active player rolls all four colored dice.
- Dice Selection: The active player selects one die and marks the corresponding number of cubes of that color on their construction plan.
- Other players may also use the selected die to mark the same color on their plan, but only one die per round.
- Resource Allocation: Players mark the selected color of cubes on their plan. They can turn a die over to use it as a wild card (any color), but this requires them to sacrifice one victory point.
- Building the Monument: If a player completes all the blocks of a monument, they have built it and earn the corresponding points by crossing it off on their plan.
- Some monuments unlock bonuses (additional marks or wild cards).
Special Rules and Strategies
- Dice Selection Strategy: Since players can only build one of the available monuments at a time, it's crucial to plan the sequence in which resources are allocated.
- Using Wild Cards: Using wild cards can be vital but should be considered because it costs one point.
- Strategic Bonuses: Some monuments offer bonuses. Deploying these wisely can provide a significant advantage.
End of the Game
The game ends when one player has built four monuments or the game pad no longer offers enough blocks for further dice rolls. The winner is the player with the most points.
Conclusion
Anubixx blends tactical decisions with the luck of the dice, making it an exciting family game for up to four players. It requires both strategic planning and flexible adjustments to unexpected dice results.
