Objective
In the board game Geister, the objective is to either capture all of the opponent's good ghosts, lose all of your own bad ghosts, or guide one of your good ghosts to the opponent’s exit.
Components
- A square 6x6 board
- Each player has 8 figures: 4 good ghosts and 4 bad ghosts
Setup
- Each player places their 8 ghost figures onto their back row of the board in any order. The arrangement is secret from the opponent.
- Decide who will take the first turn.
Gameplay
- Players take turns moving one piece per turn, moving it exactly one space orthogonally (up, down, left, or right).
- Pieces cannot jump over other pieces and cannot share a space with their own pieces.
Capturing a Piece
- Capture an opponent's piece by moving onto their space.
- Reveal to your opponent whether the captured ghost was good or bad.
- Remove the captured piece from the board.
Winning the Game
- Win by capturing all four of your opponent's good ghosts.
- Win by losing all four of your own bad ghosts (allow them to be captured).
- Win by moving one of your good ghosts to the opponent’s starting row.
Strategy Tips
- Bluffing: Create a piece arrangement to confuse or mislead your opponent.
- Control: Try to control key entry points of your opponent's board while protecting your own exit.
- Balance: Employ both offensive and defensive strategies to prevent your opponent from focusing on a single approach.
