Objective of the Game
Solitaire, also known as Patience, is a single-player card game. The objective is to sort all the cards by suits (hearts, diamonds, spades, clubs) in ascending order onto the four foundation piles.
Game Materials
- A standard deck of 52 cards without jokers.
Setup
- Tableau: Create seven piles with an increasing number of face-down cards. The first pile has one card, the second pile has two, the third pile has three, and so on, until the seventh pile has seven cards.
- Turn the top card of each pile face up.
- The remaining cards form the stock pile.
- The foundation piles are placed at the top and start empty.
Turn Mechanism
- Moving Cards: You can only move one card at a time from face-up cards or from the stock pile to the tableau piles or the foundation piles.
- Tableau Movements: Cards can only be stacked on other cards if they alternate in color and follow a card one rank higher (e.g., a black queen on a red king).
- Filling Empty Spaces: Only a king or a sequence of cards starting with a king can fill empty spaces.
- Draw either one card at a time for an easier challenge or three cards at a time from the stock pile for increased difficulty.
Foundation Piles
- Start with an Ace and continue placing cards in ascending order of the same suit.
Winning
The game is won when all four foundation piles are complete.
Strategies & Tips
- Plan Carefully: Strategically moving cards will help reveal face-down cards.
- Use Stock Pile Wisely: Use the stock pile strategically to maximize your moves.
- Empty Spaces for Kings: Use empty spaces for kings to increase flexibility and expose new cards.
The game requires both strategic thinking and some luck to successfully clear all cards.
