Objective
Tropical Stud Poker is a casino game based on traditional Five Card Stud Poker. The objective is to have a better poker hand than the dealer's. In addition, there are various bonus bets that focus on specific poker combinations.
Game Components
- A special card table with designated areas for Ante and Trop bets.
- Standard 52-card deck without jokers.
Setup
- Each player places a compulsory bet called the Ante in the assigned area. Optionally, they can also make a Trop bonus bet.
Gameplay
- Dealing Cards: Both the player and the dealer are dealt five cards each. One of the dealer's cards is turned face up, while the others remain face down.
- Decision: After seeing their cards, the player must decide whether to continue. If they choose to continue, an additional bet, called the Bet, is placed, usually twice the Ante.
- Comparison: Both hands are compared. The dealer qualifies only if they have at least Ace and King (A/K) or higher.
- If the dealer does not qualify, the player wins the Ante but not the Bet unless a higher hand combination is present, then they win a bonus (Royal Flush, Straight Flush, etc.).
- If the dealer qualifies and the player beats the dealer, the player wins both the Ante and the Bet according to the payout table.
- If the dealer beats the player, the player loses all bets.
- In case of a tie (push), the player gets their bet back.
- Trop Bet: The Trop bonus bet pays independently of the dealer's hand, based on the player's hand, according to a separate payout table, which often offers attractive odds for high hands like Royal or Straight Flush.
Strategic Tips
- It is advisable to continue playing only with cards A/K or a higher hand, since the dealer also qualifies with this hand.
- The Trop bonus bet can be enticing with high payouts, but should be used cautiously as the likelihood of such hands is low.
Game End
The game typically ends according to casino conditions after a certain number of rounds or when the player chooses not to place further bets.
