Objective of the Game

Smash Up is a deck-building card game where players attempt to destroy bases using minions and actions from their combined faction decks. The goal is to be the first to reach a certain number of victory points (VP), primarily earned by breaking bases.

Game Components

• Base Cards: These show the number of victory points you earn for destroying and the breakpoints needed for that destruction.
• Faction Decks: Each player selects two factions (e.g., Pirates, Ninjas) and shuffles their cards together to form their personal deck.
• Minions: These have power points and are played onto bases to break them.
• Action Cards: These provide special abilities or opportunities to be used during the game.

Game Setup

1. Each player selects two factions from the available ones, shuffles them together to form their personal deck.
2. Shuffle all the base cards and place a defined number in play.
3. Each player draws five cards from their deck.

Turn Structure

Each player's turn consists of the following phases:

1. Draw Cards: Draw from your deck until you have five cards in hand.
2. Play Cards: You may play up to one Minion card and/or one Action card.
3. Minions are placed on a base.
4. Actions can provide effects on minions or bases as described on the card.
5. Base Scoring: After playing, check if the total strength of minions at a base reaches or exceeds the breakpoint. If so, that base scores.
6. Points for the broken base are awarded (according to the base card).
7. The base is removed and replaced with a new one.
8. End Turn: You can hold up to a maximum of ten cards in your hand; discard any extras. The next player takes their turn.

End of Game

The game ends when a player reaches a predetermined number of victory points (usually 15 or as agreed upon). This player is declared the winner.

• Faction Combos: Choose compatible factions that complement each other's abilities.
• Timing Actions: Use action cards strategically and plan the best time to break bases.
• Anticipate Opponents: Monitor opponents' strategies and adapt yours to counter their advantage.
