Cartino
Objective of the Game:
The objective of Cartino is to score points by collecting card combinations while preventing other players from completing their combinations.
Game Components:
- A deck of 120 cards in four colors: Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green.
- Each color has numbers from 1 to 10, with 3 cards of each.
- Special Cards:
- Joker (x4): These can be used as any card.
- Swap Card (x4): This allows a player to swap a card with another player.
Setup:
- Each player draws five cards from the shuffled deck.
- The remaining deck is placed facedown as the draw pile in the center.
- The top card of the draw pile is placed face up next to it to start the discard pile.
Gameplay:
A turn consists of the following phases:
- Drawing a Card:
-
The player draws a card from the draw pile or takes the top card from the discard pile.
-
Forming Combinations:
- The goal is to lay down sets of 3 or more cards of the same number or a consecutive sequence of numbers in the same color.
-
Jokers can be used as a substitute for any card within a combination.
-
Swapping Cards:
-
By playing a swap card, a player can exchange one card with another player.
-
Discarding a Card:
- At the end of their turn, the player must place one card from their hand onto the discard pile.
Scoring:
- Complete Sets or Sequences (3 or more cards): 10 points per card.
- Using Jokers: -5 points for each joker used.
The game ends when a player has no more cards in their hand. The player with the most points wins.
Strategic Tips:
- Use Jokers Wisely: Since jokers bring negative points, they should only be used to complete valuable combinations.
- Monitor Your Opponents: Pay attention to the cards your opponents are collecting to disrupt their strategies.
- Tactically Use Swap Cards: Use the swap card to acquire missing cards or to remove potentially important cards from an opponent.
Equipped with this knowledge, you are ready to play Cartino and make the best combinations. Enjoy!
