Double-Six Dominoes - Board Game

Strategy, Family Game

group 2 - 4 Deutsch

Objective of the Game

Double-Six Dominoes is a strategy game where the goal is to be the first player to lay down all your dominoes, matching their ends with the open ends on the table, while aiming to score more points than your opponents.

Components

  • A set of 28 dominoes, also known as a "double-six set."
  • Each domino tile has two ends, each displaying between 0 to 6 pips.

Setup

  1. Shuffle the dominoes face down.
  2. Each player draws the same number of tiles:
  3. For 2 players: each draws 7 tiles.
  4. For 3 or 4 players: each draws 5 tiles.
  5. The remaining tiles form the draw pile, placed face down.

Gameplay

  1. Starting Player: The player with the highest double tile (like [6|6], if it exists) starts the game.
  2. Players take turns, placing a matching tile at an open end of the domino chain. A matching tile means one that can be placed because it has a number matching the open end.
  3. If a player can't place any tiles, they must draw tiles from the draw pile until they can play or the draw pile is empty.
  4. A round ends when a player places all their tiles.
  5. Scoring: The winner of the round scores the total pip value of all opponents' remaining tiles.

Winning the Game

  • The game ends when a player reaches a pre-set score, commonly between 100 to 200 points, as decided by the players.

Strategies

  • Double tiles open up more branch possibilities and can be crucial.
  • Keep track of numbers that have been played to prevent opponents from having playable numbers.
  • Maintain maximum play options wherever possible.

Note: As Double-Six Dominoes involves both strategy and luck, the ability to adapt to the current situation can greatly influence your success.
