Objective of the Game

The goal of Sultan is to strategically lay down cards and engage in negotiations to be the first player to reach a certain number of victory points. These points are primarily acquired by playing and discarding various cards, which grant specific actions or advantages.

Game Setup

  1. Shuffle the deck: Thoroughly shuffle the card deck.
  2. Deal cards: Each player receives a predetermined number of resource cards to form their hand.
  3. Prepare the board: Set up the board where the cards will be played.
  4. Determine the starting player: Randomly or through an agreed method, determine who will start the game.

Gameplay

The game is played in rounds, with each round consisting of several phases:

1. Income Phase

  • Each player draws a certain number of resource cards from the draw pile to their hand.

2. Planning Phase

  • During this phase, players may play any number of cards from their hand to the play area. These played cards can be trade, attack, or defense cards, among others.

3. Action Phase

  • Players execute the actions of the cards they've played, which may include trading cards, earning direct points, or blocking other players.

4. Scoring Phase

  • At the end of each round, score is tallied based on the cards played, with players earning points depending on the types of cards or conditions fulfilled.

Victory Points

  • The score is continuously tracked. The game ends when a player reaches the required number of victory points, declaring them the winner.

  • Bluffing and negotiating: Utilize negotiation strategies and bluffs effectively to influence other players.
