Objective of the Game
Architects of Arkadia is a strategic board game where players act as architects in a burgeoning kingdom. The objective is to strategically place buildings and workers and collect seals to earn the most points by the end of the game.
Game Components
- Game Board: A variable board representing the growing kingdom.
- Building Cards: For constructing various buildings.
- Worker Tokens: Used for building the structures.
- Seals: Represent the players' progress.
- Scoring Markers: To keep track of victory points.
Setup
- Set up the game board: Place it in the center of the table.
- Shuffle and stack the building cards face down: Each player initially receives a selection of building cards.
- Distribute worker tokens: Each player starts with a fixed number of workers.
- Determine the starting player: Either agree on who starts or choose randomly.
Gameplay
The game is played over multiple rounds until all the buildings are constructed or no seals are available.
A typical turn:
- Play a building card: The player selects a building card from their hand and places the corresponding building on the board.
- Deploy workers: The player can now place workers on the newly placed building.
- Receive a seal: Once a building is fully constructed, the player receives a seal.
- Draw new building cards: The player draws new cards to refill their hand at the end of their turn.
Special Rules
- Building Types: Different building types have unique properties and can influence strategy.
- Resource Management: Workers are limited, so it’s crucial to use them efficiently.
- Seal System: Gathering seals in a strategic order can provide additional bonuses.
End of the Game and Scoring
The game ends when either no player has building cards left, all buildings are built, or no seals are available. Then, victory points are calculated:
- Seal Points: Each collected seal provides points according to the building’s value.
- Bonus Points: Bonus points are available for fulfilling certain conditions, such as completing a full row of building types.
The player with the most points wins the game.
Strategic Tips
- Plan Ahead: Think ahead on which buildings can effectively work together and plan your moves accordingly.
- Observe Opponents: Watch how your opponents are behaving and when they’re redeeming their seals.
