Objective of the Game:
The objective of Niedrige Hausnummer (Low House Number) is to have the lowest total score at the end of the rounds. The player with the fewest points wins the game.
Setup:
- Each player needs paper and a pencil.
- One player is selected to be the first Dealer.
- The Dealer shuffles the deck and deals four cards facedown to each player.
- The remaining cards form the face-down draw pile in the center, and the top card is turned over to start the discard pile.
Game Play:
- All players look at their cards and place them facedown in a row in front of them.
- The Dealer starts the game by either drawing a card from the draw pile or taking the top card from the discard pile. The aim is to collect low cards.
- A drawn card can be:
- Swapped with one of the player's own four cards (the swapped card is placed on the discard pile).
- Discarded to add to the discard pile.
- When a card is swapped, its new value can be revealed to help remember for future turns.
- The game continues clockwise, with each player having the same two options: draw from the draw pile or the discard pile and swap or discard.
Ending a Round:
- Once a player believes they have the lowest possible sum of card values, they may choose to knock, allowing all other players one final round before revealing their cards.
- All players reveal their card values, adding them up to determine the round score.
Card Values:
- Aces count as 1 point.
- Cards 2 through 10 are worth their face value.
- Face cards are worth 10 points.
Round End:
- Record all players' points.
- The player to the left of the current dealer becomes the new dealer for the next round.
- The game ends either after a set number of rounds or when a player reaches a certain score limit (e.g., 50). The player with the lowest total score wins.
Strategies and Tips:
- Remember cards that have been in the discard pile to predict which cards are still in play.
- Keep lower cards to keep your total sum low.
- Observe opponents' actions to gather hints about their card values.
