Objective of the Game
7 Wonders: Duel is a strategic card game for two players where you build a civilization and win by gathering resources, achieving scientific discoveries, or military supremacy. There are three different ways to win: military dominance, scientific dominance, or by having the most points at the end of the game.
Game Setup
- Each Player Receives 4 Wonder Cards: At the beginning of the game, 8 Wonder cards are chosen at random. The gameplay determines which wonders each player will possess. Wonders provide special bonuses and abilities throughout the game.
- Prepare the Game Board: Place the board in the center and position the conflict pawn in the center of the military track.
- Shuffle the Progress Tokens: Display five progress tokens within reach.
- Sort the Card Sets: There are three age decks. These will be played sequentially.
Gameplay
The game is played over three ages. In each round, players take turns selecting cards to build their civilization.
Ages 1, 2, and 3
- Set up the Card Structure: At the start of each age, a specific card structure is created using age cards from the corresponding deck. Some cards are face down, others face up.
- Card Selection: Players take turns selecting a free card (not covered by any other card) and can:
- Build the card (pay the card's cost and place it in front of them).
- Sell the card (discard it for 2 coins plus 1 coin for each yellow building in your city).
- Build the card under one of their Wonders (activate the wonder by paying the wonder’s cost).
Military Supremacy:
- Some cards have shields. When played, these move the conflict pawn towards the opponent on the military track.
- If the conflict pawn reaches the end of the opponent’s track, you immediately win by military supremacy.
Scientific Supremacy:
- Collect six different scientific symbols on the cards to immediately win through scientific supremacy.
Scoring Points:
- If no instant victory conditions are met, the game ends after the third age and players calculate their victory points:
- Building cards will have victory points.
- Completed wonders provide points.
- Military achievements yield points.
- Scientific collections add points.
Additional Rules and Tips
- Resource Management: Skillfully manage resources from brown and gray cards. Use them to build expensive cards or make advancements.
- Strategic Decisions: Always consider your opponent’s possibilities. Blocking a crucial card from them can be a deciding factor.
- Activating Wonders Offers long-term advantages; use them wisely and in a timely manner.
Conclusion
7 Wonders: Duel is a highly strategic two-player game that is both innovative and challenging. Building effectively and accumulating a diverse range of cards are key to winning.
