Family Game, Strategy, Luck-based Game

group 2 - 4 Deutsch

Objective:

In the game Digit, the aim is to be the first to play all your cards to have the lowest score at the end of a set number of rounds. The player with the lowest score wins after all rounds have been completed.

Game Components:

  • A set of number cards in four colors (Red, Blue, Yellow, Green)
  • Score sheets to keep track of the points for each round

Setup:

  1. Number of Players: The game can be played with 2 to 4 players.
  2. Dealing Cards: Each player receives 10 cards at the beginning. The remaining cards form a draw pile placed at the center of the table.
  3. Discard Pile: A discard pile is placed next to the draw pile.

Gameplay:

  1. Starting the Game: The player to the left of the dealer starts by drawing either the top card from the draw pile or the top card from the discard pile.
  2. Objective of a Round: Players aim to lay down card combinations, which are either sequences of three or more consecutive numbers in the same color or sets of three or more cards with the same number in different colors.
  3. Laying Down Cards: During their turn, a player can lay down combinations of cards consisting of sequences or sets.
  4. Adding to Combinations: Players can add cards to the already laid-down card combinations of other players.
  5. Discarding a Card: At the end of each turn, players must discard a card onto the discard pile.
  6. End of a Round: The round ends when a player has played all his cards. Players then count the cards remaining in their hands, with each card counting as its face value in penalty points.

Scoring and Winning:

  • The player with the lowest score after a predetermined number of rounds wins the game.
  • Each card left in hand counts as penalty points corresponding to its face value.

Strategic Tips:

  • Observe: Always pay attention to the cards your opponents lay down or discard to deduce their strategies.
  • Plan Ahead: Try to plan your hand so that you can lay your cards down in as few moves as possible.
  • Risk vs. Safety: Decide whether to make risky plays to lay down cards quickly or to impede opponents with tactical discards.
