Kampf der Viren

Objective of the Game

The goal of "Kampf der Viren" is to tactically play virus cards to collect the most scientist points and ultimately control the largest number of viruses by the end of the game.

Game Components

Setup

1. Shuffle the Deck: Thoroughly shuffle all the cards.
2. Set up the Display: Lay three virus cards face up on the game board (laboratories).
3. Card Distribution: Each player receives 5 cards.
4. Determine the Starting Player: The youngest player starts.

Gameplay

The game is played in rounds. Starting with the starting player, each player draws cards and attempts to infect laboratories with viruses or neutralize them. A round consists of the following phases:

1. Draw Cards: At the beginning of each turn, the player draws two cards from the draw pile.
2. Perform Action: The player can perform one of the following actions:
3. Play Virus Card: Play a virus card to infect a laboratory. The card remains in the laboratory.
4. Play Medication Card: Play a medication card to neutralize a virus in a laboratory. Neutralized viruses are removed from the game.
5. Play Event Card: Depending on the effect, follow the instructions on the event card (e.g., increase all played viruses by one point).
6. Discard Cards: Decide whether to discard cards from your hand to optimize your hand (max. 5 cards in hand).
7. Count Points: At the end of your turn, check who controls the laboratories. The player with the most virus cards in a laboratory earns points corresponding to the infection value of the viruses.

End of the Game

The game ends when the draw pile is depleted and all players have played their final cards. Then a final evaluation occurs:

• Add up the scientist points gained by controlling laboratories.
• The player with the most total points wins.

• Placement of Viruses: Try to strategically place your viruses in the labs to score the most points.
• Plan Medications: Use your medication cards wisely to disrupt your opponents' control over labs.
• Use Event Cards: Don't be caught off guard, as event cards can radically change the course of the game, so be prepared!
