Objective of the Game

The game "51" is a card game with the goal of having the highest score at the end by achieving 51 points. Players face the challenge of strategically playing, collecting, and combining card values to reach this target.

Game Components

  • A standard 52-card deck (without jokers).

Game Setup

  1. Shuffling: Shuffle the deck thoroughly.
  2. Dealing: Each player is dealt a certain number of cards (usually five), and the remaining cards form the draw pile.
  3. Starting Player: Determine a starting player; the order of play proceeds clockwise.

Gameplay

  1. Starting Turn: The starting player begins. Each player takes turns in sequence.
  2. Laying Down Cards: On your turn, you can lay down cards to draw a card from the draw pile. The aim is to create card combinations that total as close as possible to 51 points. Points are calculated as follows:
  3. Number cards equal their face value (2-10)
  4. Jack: 11 points
  5. Queen: 12 points
  6. King: 13 points
  7. Ace can count either 1 or 11 points, depending on agreed rules.
  8. End of Turn: At the end of your turn, you may draw a card.
  9. Scoring: Once a player believes they have reached 51 points or it becomes impossible to continue, the round ends.

Game End

  • The round may be ended by a player declaring they have reached 51 points. At the end of the final round, all players count their point values.
  • The player with exactly 51 points or closest to it wins.

Strategic Tips

  • Watch Your Score: Aim to efficiently reach 51 points without accumulating too many cards that will distance you from your goal.
  • Drawing Strategy: Pay attention to which cards you draw from the pile to keep valuable ones and pass on unwanted ones to others.
  • Trading and Swapping: Utilize opportunities to trade or swap with other players to optimize your combinations.
