Keythedral
Objective
The objective of Keythedral is to gather the most victory points by constructing portions of the cathedral. Players achieve this by producing resources from their fields, fulfilling building plans, and obtaining special cards.
Game Components
- Game Board: Comprised of square landscape tiles placed during the game.
- Resource Tokens: Representing wood, wheat, stone, iron, and wine.
- Cathedral Building Plans: Tiles indicating the required resources to build parts of the cathedral.
- Workers: Figures placed on landscape tiles to gather resources.
- Action Cards: Cards offering various effects and advantages to players.
Game Play
- Setup:
- Each player begins with several landscape tiles and workers.
- Players take turns placing landscape tiles in the central play area to create the game board.
-
Workers are then placed on these tiles, with no more than one worker per tile.
-
Round Structure:
- Harvest: Each worker gathers the specific resource from their tile: wood from forests, wheat from fields, stone from quarries, iron from mines, and wine from vineyards.
- Action Phase: Players can play action cards for beneficial effects or to influence others.
- Building Phase: With their collected resources, players can fulfill cathedral building plans to gain victory points.
-
Reset and Repeat: Workers are retrieved, and the round marker moves clockwise to the next building sector.
-
Special Rules:
- Event Cards: These can alter conditions in the game (e.g., weather that affects resource production).
- Tile Placement: Some tiles affect surrounding ones (like lakes preventing certain resource generation).
- Player Interaction: Placing workers and playing action cards can strategically benefit or hinder other players.
End of the Game
The game ends when all sections of the cathedral have been completed. Players then count their victory points from built sections and any acquired special cards. The player with the most points wins.
Strategies
- Resource Management: Plan ahead to generate resources frequently required by building plans.
- Placement Strategy: Consider worker placement on landscape tiles to optimize resource income.
- Interaction: Use action cards advantageously and strategically block key moves of other players.
Keythedral offers a blend of strategic planning, resource management, and player interaction, providing an engaging gaming experience.
