Strategy, Family Game

group 2 - 4 Deutsch

Objective

The objective of Settlers of Nuremberg is to accumulate the most victory points, primarily by constructing trading houses and roads, as well as advancing through development cards.

Game Components

  • A game board with a fixed network of roads and cities
  • Resource cards: Ore, Wool, Grain, Wood, and Brick
  • Trade cards and Development cards
  • Building boards
  • Market stall pieces

Setup

  1. Each player chooses a color and receives the corresponding trading houses and road pieces.
  2. Place the resource cards ready. These are collected and traded during the game.
  3. Each player alternates placing a trading house and a road on the starting spots marked on the board.

Gameplay

The game is played in turns, each consisting of several phases:

  1. Resource Production: The active player rolls two dice. The sum indicates which fields produce resources. Each player receives resources whose adjacent fields have their trading houses.

  2. Trading: Players can trade resources with each other.

  3. Building: With the collected resources, players can:

    • Build roads to secure more trade routes.
    • Build trading houses to generate more resources.
    • Purchase development cards, providing various advantages, including victory points.

Important Rules

  • Knight cards from development cards allow players to move the robber's position to block access to resources from other players.
  • Once a player reaches 10 victory points, the game ends, and that player is declared the winner.

Strategic Tips

  • Plan: Effective placement of trading houses is essential to gain access to a variety of resources.
  • Use trading wisely: Trade resources that you have in surplus to your advantage.

End of the Game

The game ends immediately when a player reaches 10 victory points. That player is then declared the winner.

"Settlers of Nuremberg" is distinguished by its mix of strategy and luck, as well as its trading element, from many other board games.
