Objective of the Game

In Elasund, the goal is to skillfully build structures in the city of Elasund, collect influence cards, and score victory points. The first player to reach a certain number of victory points wins the game.

Game Setup

The game board is placed in the center, and each player chooses a color and receives the corresponding building blocks and markers. Influence cards are shuffled and prepared, as are the resource markers (gold and privilege cards). The city of Elasund has a grid of 12x8 squares showing various construction sites and important structures like city walls and the church.

Gameplay

The game is played in turns going clockwise. Each player's turn consists of several phases:

1. Income Phase: The active player rolls two dice to determine the number of the construction site where all players receive resources. Based on their cards and the dice number, players either receive gold or may draw influence cards.

2. Building Phase: In this phase, players can construct buildings, play privilege cards, or acquire influence cards:

   • Construct Buildings: Depending on their resources and space on the board, players can construct their buildings. This often requires having the right influence cards for specific construction sites.
   • Play Privilege Cards: These cards allow special actions, like influencing construction, gaining resources, etc.
   • Acquire Influence Cards: Players can place influence tokens on strategically important construction sites, which are essential for future building.

3. Tile Phase: Players may reposition or convert tiles, position new markers, or pay taxes for area cards.

Scoring Points

Victory points are gained by constructing buildings and by surpassing influence values. Constructing larger buildings and completing the city wall grants additional points.

Strategic Tips

• Plan Ahead: It's important to plan long-term which buildings to construct to secure the best building sites in advance.
• Resource Management: Balancing the use of gold and influence cards is crucial to remain influential in the building process.
• Tactical Influence: Placing influence tokens in strategically advantageous areas can be the key to winning.

Depending on the number of players and their experience, Elasund has a playing time of about 90 minutes. It is suitable for casual players as well as experienced strategists seeking a more challenging gaming experience.
