Objective of the Game "Master of Magic"

Master of Magic is a strategic card game where players take on the roles of powerful wizards. The goal is to accumulate the most points by successfully casting spells and summoning magical creatures onto the playing field.

Components

  • A deck of 100 cards, divided into spells and creatures.
  • 4 player mats (one for each player) that represent player areas.
  • A scoreboard.
  • Point markers.

Setup

  1. Shuffle the Deck: Thoroughly shuffle the deck of cards.
  2. Deal Cards: Each player receives five cards.
  3. Determine the Starting Player: Identify the first player using a random mechanism (e.g., rolling dice).
  4. Scoreboard: Place the scoreboard and point markers in the center of the table.

Gameplay

The game proceeds in rounds consisting of the following phases:

  1. Phase 1: Draw

    • Each player draws two cards from the draw pile.
  2. Phase 2: Play

    • Each player may play up to three cards from their hand to summon creatures or cast spells.
    • Summon Creatures: Place a creature card in front of you on your player mat. Creatures protect the wizard from enemy attacks and can generate points directly.
    • Cast Spells: Place a spell card in the discard pile and execute the effect described. Spells can support own creatures or attack opposing wizards.
  3. Phase 3: Attack

    • Players can use their summoned creatures to attack opposing player-wizards. The damage is read from the scoreboard and adjusted accordingly.
  4. Phase 4: End of Round

    • Discard unused cards to the discard pile. The round ends once each player has taken their turn.

Winning Conditions

  • The game ends after a set number of rounds (5 is recommended).
  • The player with the most points on the scoreboard wins.

Strategic Tips

  • Avoid Rookie Mistakes: Avoid being overly aggressive in the early rounds as your resources are limited.
  • Gain Card Advantage: Try to retain as many cards in your hand as possible to remain flexible to opponents' moves.
  • Defensive Balance: Adequately protect your wizard with creatures to minimize damage.

Special Features

  • Some spells have lasting effects or can negate other spells.
  • Creatures have different abilities that can be combined for powerful effects.

By following these rules and tips, you'll soon become a true Master of Magic, adept at balancing offense and defense strategically.
