Objective of the Game
The Legends of Andor – Chada & Thorn is a cooperative card game for two players. Your objective is to safely guide the characters Chada and Thorn to their destination by overcoming various challenges and foes.
Game Components
- Two character cards: Chada and Thorn
- A Companion Deck
- A Threat Deck
- A stack of Event Cards
- Various Location Cards
- Round Marker
- Dice
Setup
- Each player chooses a character (Chada or Thorn) and takes the corresponding character card.
- Place the Companion Deck facedown in the middle.
- Shuffle the Threat Deck and the Event Deck and place them nearby.
- Set the Round Marker to the starting point of the first round.
- Prepare the initial Location Cards as per the game's instructions.
Gameplay
The game progresses in rounds, each consisting of several phases:
- Event Phase: Draw a new Event Card and apply its effect.
- Threat Phase: Draw a new Threat Card. This represents potential foes or obstacles the players must confront.
- Action Phase: Players can perform the following actions:
- Move: Advance your characters along the path.
- Fight: Confront threats from the threat deck.
- Use Companions: Utilize the abilities of companion cards on your hand.
- End of Round: Move the Round Marker one step forward. Check for victory or defeat conditions.
Winning and Losing Conditions
- Victory: Players win by safely bringing both Chada and Thorn to the end of the last location card.
- Defeat: Players lose if either character is defeated (e.g., by loss of health points) or if the Round Marker reaches the end before achieving the objective.
Strategic Considerations
- Coordination: As a cooperative game, effective coordination between players is crucial. Discuss your moves and strategies.
- Resource Management: Use your cards wisely. Keep track of health points and other resources, as they are limited.
- Order of Actions: Consider when it's best to move, fight, or use companions to maximize your benefits.
