Objective
The objective of Fits is to strategically place tiles on a personal board to score as many points as possible while avoiding penalty points. This game is reminiscent of the digital game Tetris, where different blocks should fit together without gaps.
Components
- Each player receives their own plastic game board.
- A set of tiles in the shape of well-known Tetris blocks, each consisting of different colored Polyominoes.
- A deck of cards depicting these tiles.
- Additional round boards showing special scoring fields for each round.
Setup
- Each player places their board in front of them and receives a complete set of tiles.
- The round boards are prepared for the current round according to the rulebook instructions. These boards demonstrate specific tasks or special scoring fields to consider.
- The cards are shuffled and placed face down.
Game Play
- Start Round: A card is drawn and shows each player the tile that must be placed. It is placed simultaneously by all players on their boards.
- Tile Placement: Players individually decide how to place the tile on their board. It can be rotated freely to follow the best placement strategy but must not be moved after being placed.
- Placement Goals: Players try to cover as many fields as possible, particularly those with positive point values. Negative scoring fields should remain uncovered to avoid penalties.
- Draw More Cards: This process is repeated until all cards are used and all tiles placed.
- Interim Scores: After certain rounds, additional points may be awarded as shown by tasks on the round boards.
Rounds and Conclusion
- The game consists of several rounds. With each round, the requirements on the round board change, and hence the placement strategy.
- After the final round, each player's total score is calculated. The player with the most points wins.
Strategic Tips
- Skilfully avoiding negative points initially and later strategically covering these with a fitting tile can be beneficial.
- Covering positive scoring fields early may give a points advantage but should be done considering future tile placements and potential gaps.
