group 2 - 4 Deutsch

Objective of the Game

The objective of Neunkart is to strategically place cards to score the most points. Each round, a player tries to cleverly place their cards to create combinations that will earn them points by the end of the game.

Game Components

  • A deck of 36 cards, numbered 1 to 9 in four different colors.
  • A scoring pad.

Setup

  1. Each player receives 9 cards at the start of the game.
  2. The remaining cards form a draw pile.

Gameplay

  1. Starting the Round: The player to the left of the dealer starts. Players take turns in clockwise order.
  2. Play a Card: The active player plays a card from their hand and places it in the center of the table.
  3. Forming Combinations: Once five cards of the same color are in the center, players may form combinations. These consist of:
  4. Sequences: Three or more consecutive cards of the same color.
  5. Sets: Two or more of the same card.
  6. Earning Points: For each successful combination, the player immediately earns points. The points awarded depend on the length and type of the combination.
  7. Draw Cards: After forming a combination, the player draws as many cards as needed to return to having 9 cards in hand, if enough remain in the draw pile.
  8. Ending the Round: The round ends when the first player has no cards left in hand. Remaining players may keep or discard their cards, depending on their strategy.

Scoring

  • Sequences of three cards earn 3 points;
  • Each additional card in a sequence earns an additional 2 points;
  • Two of the same card earn 1 point; each additional card of the same type earns 2 points.

End of the Game

The game ends when the draw pile is exhausted and no further combinations can be formed. The player with the most points wins.

Strategic Tips

  • Watch the Colors: Play cards carefully to avoid inadvertently helping other players.
  • Plan Combinations: Try to manage your hand cards so that you can form as many combinations as possible at the end of the game.
  • Bluffing: Sometimes it can be beneficial to hold back strong cards to play high-scoring combinations at the last minute.
