Objective of the Game

Planet is a strategic board game where players aim to create the best possible planet by arranging different habitats for animals on a personal, three-dimensional planet core with magnetic surfaces. The player with the most victory points at the end of the game wins.

Components

• 4 three-dimensional planet cores
• 50 magnetic landscape tiles (featuring different types: forest, desert, water, mountain)
• 45 animal cards
• 5 objective cards
• 1 start player marker

Setup

1. Each player receives a planet core.
2. The animal cards are sorted by round and placed facedown in the center of the table. Corresponding cards are revealed each round.
3. The objective cards are used to determine additional points at the end of the game.
4. All landscape tiles are shuffled and placed as a common supply.
5. A starting player is chosen and receives the start player marker.

Gameplay

The game is played over 12 rounds. Each round consists of two phases:

Phase 1: Tile Selection

• Starting with the first player, each player takes turns selecting a landscape tile from the common supply. These tiles are magnetic and can be attached to the planet core's surface.

Phase 2: Habitat Assessment

• After selecting landscape tiles, the face-up animal cards are evaluated. Animals favor specific habitats, which need to be created on the players' planets.
• The animal card goes to the player whose planet contains the animal's preferred habitat in the largest or most advantageous contiguous area.

Special Features

• Strategic Considerations: Players must decide which landscape tiles to take to build connected habitats. The larger and more contiguous the habitat for an animal, the more likely a player will receive the animal card.
• Objective Cards: Endgame objective cards provide additional points. These might be based on who has the most of a certain type of landscape on their planet or other criteria.

End of the Game and Scoring

After 12 rounds, players tally their points from animal cards and objective cards. The player with the most points wins.

Strategic Tips

• Focus on creating large contiguous areas matching the animal's preferred habitats.
• Keep objectives in mind to score additional endgame points.
• Stay adaptable and adjust your strategy based on available landscape tiles and animal cards.
