Objective of the Game

The main objective of the game Casino is to score as many points as possible by picking up cards that match the value of the cards in your hand.

Equipment

• A deck of 52 cards without jokers.
• Paper and pencil to keep track of the points.

Setup

1. Choose a dealer. The dealer shuffles the cards.
2. Each player is dealt four cards. In addition, four cards are placed face up on the table.
3. The rest of the stack is set aside face down for future rounds.

Gameplay

Rules for the Players:

• Each player takes turns.
• On your turn, you can play a card from your hand to:

1. Capture: - Matching: The played card can directly capture a card on the table if they have the same value. E.g., you play a 7 and take a 7 from the table. - Summing: Use your card to collect cards that add up to its value. E.g., with a 9 you can take a 6 and a 3 if they are on the table. - Combination ability: You can collect multiple cards simultaneously if the total value matches your ability.

2. Lay Down: - If you can't or choose not to capture, you must lay a card from your hand on the table.

Special Features:

• Builds: Instead of capturing, you can create a new combination (called a 'Build') on the table with your card that you can capture in subsequent rounds. You must declare what value the new build is (e.g., a build on 5 means you can later capture the cards with a 5).
• Sweep: If you can pick up all cards from the table, you get an extra point.

Scoring

The game ends when all the cards from the stack have been played and no cards are left in hand.

• Card collection: Each card captured counts as one point.
• Spades: Additional points for whoever captures the most Spade cards (there are 13 Spade cards total).
• Two of Spades: The Two of Spades (2♠) is worth two points.
• Big Ten: The Ten of Spades (10♠) provides two points.

A game ends when a player reaches 21 points. Scoring at the end of each round helps adapt the overall strategy for the next round.

Strategic Tips

• Focus on Spades: Try to collect as many Spade cards as possible to score extra points.
• Keep Track: Be mindful of which cards your opponent picks up to gain insight into their strategy.
• Clever Building: Structure your Builds in such a way that you can easily clear the table to provoke Sweeps.
