Instructions Kümmelblättchen

Bluff, Three-card Monte - Card Game (French Deck)

Strategy, Luck-based Game

group 2 - 5 Deutsch

Objective of the Game

The goal in Kümmelblättchen is for the player who shuffles the cards to successfully conceal from the other players where a particular card is located, or as an observer, to correctly guess this card's location.

Materials

  • A deck of three cards: Usually, two "normal" cards and one special card are used, like two black Queens and a red one.
  • A flat table or similar surface.

Setup

  1. Choose a player to act as the dealer/mixer. The other players will be observers.
  2. The dealer shows the three cards to the observers, specifically pointing out where the marked card is.

Gameplay

  1. The dealer places the three cards face down on the surface.
  2. Through quick and skillful movements, the dealer shuffles the cards to distract or confuse the observers.
  3. The goal for the observers is to keep track of the marked card. After the shuffling is completed, the observers can guess which card it is.

Rules

  • The dealer must shuffle the cards quickly enough to make it difficult to follow the marked card but must keep it theoretically possible.
  • No touching of cards: Observers may touch the cards only after the dealer has completed the shuffle.
  • After all have guessed, the dealer reveals the actual location of the marked card.

Strategy Tips

  • As the Dealer: Try to use distraction techniques and watch the observers' eye movements. Successful bluffing depends on confusing the observers.
  • As the Observer: Focus on the starting location of the marked card and try to notice small but quick moves by the dealer.

End of the Game

The game can be repeated any number of times, with roles swapped so that each player has a chance to be the dealer. There is no defined winner; the game focuses on skill and deception.
