Anno 1701 - The Card Game
Objective
In Anno 1701 - The Card Game, players take on the role of settlers competing to build the most successful island world. The player who collects the most victory points by constructing buildings and ships, and by fulfilling mission cards, wins the game.
Components - 110 cards, consisting of building plans, resources, mission cards, and sketches. - Rulebook
Setup 1. Shuffle the card decks separately into categories: building plans, resources, mission cards, and sketches. 2. Place the building plans and missions as separate decks face-down in the middle of the table. 3. Give each player a starting set of resource cards, typically consisting of wood, stone, and an additional random resource. 4. Each player draws 3 mission cards and selects 2 of them, placing the third back under the pile. 5. Deal 5 cards to each player for their hand.
Gameplay The game is played over several rounds with each player taking their turn in sequence. Each turn consists of the following phases:
- Draw Phase: Draw resource cards from the resource deck to refill your hand to five cards.
- Build Phase: Play a building plan from your hand by discarding the specified resource cards. Place the constructed building or ship in front of you and draw a new building card.
- Fulfill Missions: Check if your constructed buildings or ships meet the conditions of any of your mission cards. If so, lay the mission card face up in front of you and draw a new mission card.
- End Turn: Indicate that your turn is over. The next player takes their turn.
Nuances and Strategies - Resource Management: As the number of resource cards is limited, managing them effectively is crucial. Plan ahead to foresee what resources you might need soon and consider missions and buildings that combine well. - Building Synergies: Pay attention to constructing buildings that function synergistically or grant you additional advantages during the game. - Flexible Strategy: Keep your strategy flexible. Sometimes, completing a less ideal mission brings short-term benefits.
End Game and Scoring The game ends when either the building card deck or resource deck is exhausted. Players tally their victory points from the mission cards and buildings they've completed. The player with the most points wins.
Strategic Tips - Balance your hand: Strive to maintain a mix of resources and building plans. - Set priorities: Focus on valuable buildings that offer strategic advantages or high points. - Watch your opponents: Track which cards opponents are collecting to anticipate and counter their strategies.
