Objective
Mini Dice is a simple and fast dice game where the objective is to achieve the highest score. Each player aims to accumulate the most points by skillfully rolling and combining the dice values.
Components
- A set of 5 dice
- Paper and pencil for scoring
Setup
Each player needs a score sheet and a pencil to record their results. A starting player is chosen. The game proceeds in clockwise order.
Gameplay
- Start: The starting player rolls all 5 dice at once.
- Roll Rounds: Each player has up to 3 rolls per round:
- First Roll: The player rolls all 5 dice.
- Second and Third Rolls (optional): The player may choose which dice to re-roll to achieve a better combination.
- After up to three rolls (or fewer if the player is satisfied), the player records the achieved result in a predetermined category.
- Each category and every combination can be used only once per game.
Categories and Scoring
- Ones to Sixes: The player notes the sum of the dice with the same value. Example: In the "Fours" category, they record the sum of all rolled fours.
- Three of a Kind: At least three dice showing the same number, score is the sum of all five dice.
- Four of a Kind: At least four dice showing the same number, score is the sum of all five dice.
- Full House: Three of one number and two of another, scores 25 points.
- Small Straight: Four sequential numbers (e.g., 1-2-3-4), scores 30 points.
- Large Straight: Five sequential numbers (e.g., 2-3-4-5-6), scores 40 points.
- Chance: Any dice combination, scores the total of the dice.
- Yahtzee: All five dice showing the same number, scores 50 points.
Game End
The game ends when all players have filled in all categories once. The scores are then totaled.
Winner
The player with the highest total score wins.
Strategy Tips
- Try to score high points in the simple categories (Ones to Sixes) in the early rounds.
- Aim for Four of a Kind and Yahtzee when realistically achievable in one round.
- Keep probabilities in mind, and use "Chance" wisely to balance out less favorable rolls.
- Prioritize straights early in the game when possible to maintain more flexibility for later rounds.
