Objective of the Game
Trek 12: Himalaya is an engaging "Roll and Write" game where players lead a mountain expedition. The goal is to cleverly combine and connect numbers to score the most points and successfully climb three different mountains.
Setup
Each player receives a score sheet representing a mountain and a pen. The dice (one six-sided and one twelve-sided) are set out. All players choose one of the three mountains (easy, medium, hard) to climb for this round.
Game Flow
The game consists of 19 rounds. In each round, the two dice are rolled, and players must choose one of five operations to perform on the dice results:
- Addition of the dice results
- Subtraction (larger value minus smaller value)
- Multiplication of the two numbers
- Division (larger value divided by smaller, rounded down to whole numbers)
- Taking the number shown on one of the two dice
Players then write the result in one of the free spaces on their mountain score sheet.
Rules and Particularities
- Once a number is noted in a column by a player, it must be connected vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. The connection can be done by consecutive numbers (called "sequences") or identical numbers (called "zones").
- Sequences consist of consecutive numbers (e.g., 4, 5, 6), while zones are formed by identical numbers.
- Areas can be expanded as long as the connection rule with previous numbers is followed.
- Bonuses are awarded for larger dominating zones and long sequences. Each type of connection has specific point values. Additionally, players receive bonus points for reaching certain milestones or completely filling the mountain.
Special Effects
- Players can use special "tools" (equipment cards) to strategically assist in critical situations. These allow modifications to numbers or re-rolls.
Game End and Scoring
The game ends after 19 rounds. Players score their sheets based on completed sequences and zones. The player with the highest score wins.
Enjoyment and planning are essential in Trek 12; clever decisions and forward planning lead to the success of this unique expedition.
